FESCO: Russian container market rises 13.7% in January–October

MOSCOW, Nov 25 (PRIME) -- Russia’s container market expanded by 13.7% on the year to 5.399 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) in January–October, Far-Eastern Shipping Company (FESCO) said on Thursday.

Exports grew by 10% to 1.708 million TEUs, domestic traffic rose by 8% to 912,000 TEUs, imports went up by 12% to 1.972 million TEUs, and transit increased by 37% to 807,000 TEUs.

In October, the container market rose by 4.1% to 562,000 TEUs. Exports shrank by 3%, and imports increased by 3%, domestic traffic by 8%, and the transit one by 8.4%. Companies transported a record amount of 56,000 TEUs of cargoes from Asia to Europe in October, FESCO said.
